Frequently Asked Questions

What pet vaccinations are absolutely necessary?

Your dog and cat must have documentation of their rabies. However, while documentation isn’t needed for other vaccines they are highly recommended for the health and safety of your pet and other animals they are around.

Are some vaccines optional?

Bordetella is one of the main vaccinations we offer that isn’t considered a ‘core’ vaccine. Bordetella is a vaccine used to prevent kennel cough, which is highly contagious. This is a vaccination recommended for dogs who are boarded, frequent dog parks or have other chances to interact with unfamiliar dogs.

Can I vaccinate my pet myself?

You should not vaccinate your pet yourself. Trained veterinary professionals are skilled at quickly and correctly administering vaccinations to animals of all types and sizes, and should be the only ones to deliver vaccinations. This is for the safety of both the animal and their owner.

Why and how often will my pet need booster shots?

Booster shots are given to pets to keep their level of immunity at a consistent rate to protect them from diseases. Over time their immunity will wear off, which is when booster shots are recommended. Each vaccine will need a booster at different times, ranging from one to three years in most cases. Talk to your vet for guidance on vaccination frequency for your pet.
