How We Prepare Your Pet for Surgery
Preparation plays a big role in keeping surgery safe and recovery smooth. Before scheduling any procedure, we take steps to make sure your pet is healthy and ready.
Before Surgery is Scheduled
Your pet will have an exam to review their overall health and medical history. We may also conduct pre-surgical bloodwork and additional diagnostics if needed. This allows us to identify any concerns ahead of time and plan anesthesia appropriately.
Once we have the results and everything checks out, we’ll walk you through the timeline, drop-off instructions, and what to expect on surgery day.
Care On the Day of Surgery
On the day of the procedure, your pet receives another thorough exam before anesthesia begins. We will evaluate and monitor hydration, temperature, heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure. A trained technician stays with your pet throughout the procedure to monitor vital signs and comfort.
We use warming blankets, appropriate pain management, and careful monitoring to support your pet before, during, and after surgery. If anything unexpected comes up, we’ll contact you right away to discuss next steps.
Support After Surgery
Once your pet is ready to go home, we’ll send them with detailed instructions, medications when needed, and guidance on activity, incision care, and comfort. We’re always available to answer questions during recovery and help you decide what’s normal and when to check back in.
